Another Tata company that reconfirmed the group's world business agenda is Tata Motors, riding across continents. Barring a few hiccups like the Singur debacle, Tata Motors has managed to integrate the country's, indeed the world's, cheapest car -the Nano -and the British luxury car brands, Jaguar and Land Rover (JLR), in it. In this financial year the company emerged from heavy losses to be among one of the most profitable on the back of JLR. It has done wonders with Indica, and successfully fought the dominance in India of foreign car manufacturers such as Hyundai, Ford and Honda for many years. The drop in Nano sales is a big problem, which, however, does not detract from the way the company has capitalised the reforms process.
