SBI Magnum Global's timely foray into the consumption theme way back in 2009 has greatly helped the scheme in outperforming its peers and broader indices. The scheme returned 5% in the past one year, way ahead of its peers as the average gains by mid-cap schemes stood at –2.22% during the period. For the past three years too, Magnum Global gave healthy returns at 3.35% against –2.95% by the mid-cap schemes in the category. While continuing to be overweight on FMCG, the scheme is steadily but cautiously building up its stock of engineering scrips while being underweight on the financial sector.
